 General stores - with an eco-twist
Everything in both our Hovingham and Kirkbymoorside stores is ethical in some way: it might be organic or pesticide free or naturally produced; locally made and so has a lower carbon fooprint; fairly traded or fair to animals; and it is probably minimally packaged.
At Hovingham we also have a web cafe and wi-fi zone, so you can bring your own laptop and log on or come and use one of our wooden PCs (we sell wooden monitor, keyboard and mouse set - wired/wireless, ash or sapele for £230!)
From Monday 21 April we'll be standardising our opening hours across both stores to 9am to 6pm, seven days a week.
Re-use where possible, recycle where not, bin very little and compost a lot. |

Many of you have already nominated us in a couple of categories in this coveted Award - thank you so much. Now we hope we can keep the momentum going and encourage more votes to help us win and put Yorkshire on the map as an ethical area to live, work and shop!
Remember all our products are fair to animal, environment, body and community (because we trade as locally as possible too).
Our shop fit is as re-used and recycled as can be - Hovingham is made out of reclaimed wood destined for landfill and much of our Kirkbymoorside store has been in place for over twenty years!
All deli packaging is starch based and biodegradable and as you know - because you supply them to us - we never print our own carrier bags, we just re-use everyone else's.

 Always recruiting...
As a young business growing fast and keen to expand we're always interested in talking to people who are interested in working with us.
Store managers are full time positions based on five shifts(9am-6pm) over seven days. Sales assistants are based on full days but can be full or part time. Everyone is fully aware of targets and incentivised to meet them, so that we all share in the business' success.

 Remember Madeleine
Please check out the link below and scrutinise the face of a man believed to have abducted Madeleine McCann.
You can donate to the Madeleine fund in either of our shops. Don't forget that if you are going abroad you can take one of posters, ask for one of our T-shirts (FOR FREE) and/or show your support for the cause by wearing the bands available to buy for £2.
Please remember that at the heart of this horrible situation, a little girl is missing and there is no evidence AT ALL to suggest that Madeleine can not be found and returned to her family. Do your bit, don't forget about Madeleine. She is especially close to our hearts because she is a close friend of Arthur, one of our founder's - Gail Thomas'- son. He and therefore we, will never give up the search. Please help us.
